Case Study - Turning every guest's phone into the event's camera crew

Our own product: a shared photo and video gallery for weddings and celebrations, where guests scan a QR code, upload from the browser, and watch their moments appear live on the big screen.

Overview

At most weddings, hundreds of guests are taking photos all night. Almost none of those photos reach the couple. They end up in camera rolls and group chats, and the hosts are left chasing people for weeks afterwards.

Clippidy collects all of it in one place, while the party is still going. We own it end to end: product, design, development and running it in production.

No app, just a QR code

The biggest barrier for guests is installing something. So Clippidy runs entirely in the browser. Hosts put their event's QR code on the tables, guests scan it with their phone camera, and they can take or pick photos and videos and upload them straight away.

Guests see a social-style live feed of everything that has been shared, and can like each other's photos and videos. There is no sign-up and no limit on guests or uploads.

The Live Showroom

The feature hosts love most is the Live Showroom: a full-screen view made for a TV or projector at the venue. New uploads appear on the screen as they arrive, with a live activity feed, running counts of guests, photos and videos, and the QR code always visible so more people join in.

It turns the gallery into part of the party. Guests take more photos because they want to see them on the big screen.

Our guests loved seeing their photos and videos shown live, which added a touching and fun note to the evening.

Everything a host needs

Behind the guest experience is a dashboard where hosts set up their event in a few minutes, choose a plan and pay once through Stripe. From there they can manage the gallery, see event analytics and download every photo and video in full resolution, individually or all at once.

Two one-off plans, priced per event rather than as a subscription

Every event page includes Our Story, a timeline where couples share how they met and the moments that led to the big day. Hosts can add more if they want it:

  • RSVP with email and SMS invitations, guest list import and export, and table numbers.
  • An itinerary with the ceremony, reception and other parts of the day, with times, maps and files for guests.
  • A TV screen and crew, where our team brings the screen to the venue, sets up the Live Showroom and keeps it running all night.
The add-ons: an RSVP page, an itinerary page, and a TV screen with crew support
  • Next.js & tRPC (T3 Stack)
  • PostgreSQL & Prisma
  • Stripe payments
  • Cloudflare Stream video
  • AI content moderation
  • English & Greek

Safe for every audience

A wedding gallery is shown on a big screen in front of grandparents and children, so it has to stay clean. Every upload is checked automatically with Google Vision before it appears, and hosts can remove anything themselves. Each event is private: only people with the QR code or link can see it.

Built to handle the busiest five minutes

Uploads don't arrive evenly. They come in bursts, during the first dance or when the cake is cut, from dozens of phones at once, often on patchy venue Wi-Fi. Photos go directly to object storage and videos are processed by Cloudflare Stream, so the app stays fast for everyone else while large files upload in the background.

The whole product is available in English and Greek, with emails built in React Email and sent through Resend, and it's covered by unit and end-to-end tests so we can ship changes between weekends without worrying about the next wedding.

Outcome

Clippidy is live and used at weddings, christenings, birthdays and corporate events. Hosts leave with every photo their guests took, and guests leave having been part of the story.

Building and running our own product keeps us honest. Every decision we make for clients about payments, uploads, performance and support, we have already had to make for ourselves.
