Case Study - A white-walled gallery for a Limassol photography studio

A new website for photographer Dimitra Papademetriou’s studio, in English, Greek and Russian, with a portfolio laid out like an exhibition, before-and-after photo restorations and a contact form that replies to every enquiry.

Overview

Dimitra Papademetriou is a fine-arts graduate who started out in the darkroom, experimenting with light-sensitive paper and film. Today her studio, Dgraphy, makes photographs and films for restaurants, hotels, brands and online shops across Cyprus, and gives damaged family photos a second life. Her work deserved a site that steps back and lets the pictures speak.

A gallery, not a template

We designed the site like a white-walled gallery: lots of space, large black lettering, and no colour anywhere except in the photographs. Dimitra's brush-script signature stays at the centre of the brand. We redrew it so it looks sharp at any size, and its "D" became the icon in browser tabs.

The portfolio hangs in six rooms: food, portraits, travel, products, spaces and retouching. Each has a museum-style label with the number of photos inside. Visitors can walk through a room like an exhibition, switch to a contact sheet to see everything at once, and open any photo full screen.

A second life for old photographs

Restoring old photographs is one of the things the studio is known for, so we made the results easy to see. Visitors drag a handle across an old portrait to compare it before and after the cracks, stains and missing corners were repaired.

English, Greek and Russian

The whole site is available in all three languages, from the photo descriptions to the contact form and the emails it sends. We wrote a description for every one of the more than 150 photos, so people using screen readers know what they show, and Google can find the work in image searches.

Every enquiry gets a reply

When someone gets in touch, they get a confirmation straight away, in their own language, with a link back to the portfolio. Dimitra gets the details too, with a button to reply in one tap. Spam is filtered out quietly, without puzzles for visitors to solve.

Outcome

Dgraphy now has a site that loads quickly on any phone, shows Dimitra's work the way a gallery would, and makes it easy to start a project. The old portfolio links still work, so nothing the studio had built up on Google is lost, and with no server to look after, the site costs next to nothing to run.
