Overview
DrHooo set out to turn a global directory of health specialists into a simple, three-step experience: find a need, explore specialists, book a consultation. Mellownerds owned the project end-to-end, from design through full-stack development, and shipped it in two staged production releases over 6+ months.
Iteration one: core platform
Live January 2024. This release established the full patient and doctor journey, from search to a finalised, paid booking.
- Search & discovery

- Booking & payments (Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay)
- Doctor dashboard
- Doctor subscriptions

Iteration two: trust & flexibility layer
Live April 2024. This release focused on the mechanics that keep a two-sided marketplace healthy over time: trust, flexibility, and ease of content upkeep.
- Reviews
- Rescheduling
- Cancellations & refunds
- Doctor validation
- Content management
Why it was hard
The core difficulty wasn't any single feature; it was that DrHooo is a genuine two-sided marketplace: patients and doctors, with different needs running through the same core objects (appointments, availability, payments). Search had to stay fast and relevant across a growing, multi-attribute directory. The booking flow had to tie together availability, payment capture, confirmation, and later, rescheduling and refunds, into one flow that felt simple on the surface. And because doctors are the supply side, the platform needed its own tools too: dashboards, subscriptions, validation, not just for patients.
Outcome
DrHooo shipped as a complete, production-ready marketplace: search and discovery, doctor profiles, paid bookings, rescheduling, refunds, reviews, doctor tooling, and a CMS for ongoing content control. The platform gave the client a full technical and operational foundation to run a two-sided healthcare marketplace; go-to-market execution and growth remained in their hands.
